What is going on?

Regrettably, humans are going on - with practice for warfare, a uniquely human activity. We all know that the first casualty in war is the truth. What I am learning is that the first casualty in training for war, is also the truth. Ever since the first grade in school, I have believed that I have been fortunate to have been born in the USA - a fortunate son of a God blessed nation, etc.  But, as I objectively view the world around me, and the micro-part of cetology which I know best, I am increasingly concerned that both the USA and humanity are on the wrong track. I really do not know enough to comment on many big issues - in fact I shrink from them - but, I have spent all of my life studying whales, from their carcasses to their lifestyles. My urgent comment with regards to them is that we humans are arrogantly disrupting and destroying their lives in ways that most of us cannot even comprehend. We are making their home unbearable, and in some cases unsurvivable, while we go about our lives and our wars on land and sea as if that doesn't matter at all. That attitude is foolish. The whales are losing big-time, and as a minimum, we must seek the truth if we wish to continue to be their good neighbors.

Truth is, we are killing whales for practice. I do not dispute the need for military practice, but I insist upon realistic mitigation, and not all of it post-mortem. I have been witness to several of these events, and I urge you dear reader to investigate further:
